Voicelings x DaniMation Premiere at San Diego Comic-Con
Three aspiring voice actors saw their voices come to life at Comic-Con.
Voicelings just made their Comic-Con debut – and we couldn’t be prouder! On July 26, three aspiring voice actors saw their voices come to life at San Diego Comic-Con. How? Through an amazing collaboration between Voicelings, our online voice acting community founded by Tara Strong, and DaniMation, the L.A.-based animation studio led by Dani Bowman – yes, the same Dani featured on Netflix’s Love on the Spectrum – who’s on a mission to empower neurodiverse animators.
We teamed up with Dani and her talented crew to do something magical: bring Voicelings voices to the big stage in an original animated short called Isaac and the Firefly Queen.
And let us tell you – this wasn’t just another animation project. It was a full-on celebration of creativity, collaboration, and the power of giving aspiring voice actors real opportunities to shine.
We put out casting calls for Isaac and the Firefly Queen, and WOW – hundreds of auditions poured in from our incredible Voicelings Community. Students showed up with passion and talent, diving into audition scripts, recording takes, editing files, and putting their best voices forward.
By bravely sharing their auditions on social media and tagging us (@voicelings), they gained significant visibility from fans, casting directors, and fellow voice actors.
This contest wasn’t just about winning a role – it was about giving real-world voiceover experience to our students. Opportunities like this help bridge the gap between training and booking gigs – and that’s what Voicelings is all about – helping aspiring voice actors break into the industry.
Our Voicelings got the chance to:
Selected winners received one-on-one direction from Tara Strong, simulating a professional recording session and refining their performances for the Comic-Con premiere.
We cast for three voice-over roles in Isaac and the Firefly Queen: Isaac, Flavia, and X. Students who were chosen for the roles had the opportunity to work one-on-one with their teacher and mentor, Tara Strong, voicing their lines, getting feedback, and experiencing what a real recording session feels like. Together, they created something truly magical.
Amber Jones, the Voice of Isaac
Amber voiced Isaac, a curious and adventurous seven-year-old boy. We’ll be sharing her story soon, so stay tuned – it’s inspiring!
“Finding out I was cast – I remember getting the email late that night and thinking, ‘Is this actually for me?’ and seeing the words, “You’ve been selected to play the role of Isaac.” As an autistic person in the industry, if you’re in voiceover, you get a lot of rejections – 100 no’s for one yes – so to receive that one ‘yes’ felt purely magical. I was very, very happy,” said Amber Jones, 21, from the UK.
Leora Sheinbein, the Voice of Flavia
Leora voiced Flavia, the regal Queen of the Fireflies, who seeks Isaac’s help in a moment of need.
Jada Maniscalco, the Voice of Hopper The Cat
Jada portrayed Hopper, the playful cat who adds bounce and energy to the story.
Congrats to the winners! And a huge thank you to Dani Bowman and the DaniMation students who created these amazing characters for our Voicelings to voice – the results were pure magic!
More opportunities. More contests. More chances for YOU to shine are coming. Because when real talent meets real opportunity, sparks fly.
And to sweeten the deal? We have a special perk for Voicelings and DaniMation students:
This ongoing partnership is our way of celebrating artists, amplifying their talent, and giving their voices and animations a platform. So if you missed this round, have no fear – this is just the beginning of an exciting partnership.
✨ Voiceover + Animation = A match made in heaven. ✨

What I like most is it's online, self-paced, and taught by Tara Strong – someone I’ve admired since I was a kid when I first heard her as Baby Dill.
